Winning Fellows are given stipends to travel overseas for educational purposes. In exchange for such monies, Fellows are required to write travelogues and take pictures of their trips to be posted online at www.MyTravelBug.org for the education of our readers. These are their stories...

2005 Fellowship Winners:

Caitlin Cohen traveled toMali, Africa. She was studying HIV care in Mali.

Howard (Hart) Eddy went to Shanghai, China to research locations for his screenplay Saint Louis Cool, loosely based on Dostoyevsky’s Crime and Punishment.

Dinaw Mengestu travelled to Ethiopia to research his family and the revolution of 1974.

Shannon Murphy went on a walking pilgrimage to Santiago de Compostela, Spain.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

2004 Fellowship Winners:

Jennifer Dart- traveled to Knin, Croatia to work with refugees after the Serbo-Croatian War.

Marguerite deMessieres - traveled to Sofia, Bulgaria to study woodcarving with the masters at the National Academy of Arts.

Elizabeth Williams- traveled to Mexico and Guatemala to study agriculture, conservation and sustainable farming.


Rachel Frank - went to Antigua and Guatemala. We awarded her a $300 supplementary stipend as she raise enough money to travel on her own but not to explore extras.

Betony Toht- is traveling in Norway to find her great-grandmother's missing records.
