We have not yet determined if and when the next Fellowship offering
will be. In the meantime, we urge you to visit our "Other

HOW CAN I IMPROVE MY ODDS?
This year we have created a School
Challenge to help improve the odds and let alumni sponsor
travel Fellowships.
HOW LONG ARE THE TRIPS?
My Travel Bug, Inc. sponsors trips 1, 2 or 3 months long. However,
you can travel as long as you'd like. In our first year Nate Story
and friends set out to travel for a year. We gave him money for
a portion of his trip and then, because the group's stories were
so good, we granted him a little bit more the next year.
WHAT IS THE AVERAGE AMOUNT?
There is no limit for the budget you submit. However, please
be aware that the average Fellowship amount is $1-2,000. Many
of our Fellows find alternative funding and use My Travel Bug,
Inc. as a supplement to there budget.
However, the more money we are able
to raise, the more Fellowships we will be able to award this spring.
Almost 95% of our budget goes directly to the Fellowship program.

I'M ALREADY ABROAD THIS SEMESTER BUT WANT TO TRAVEL AFTER MY PROGRAM.
CAN I APPLY?
Yes, you are eligible to apply for a My Travel Bug, Inc. Fellowship.
We always have applicants who are abroad but can't afford to take
advantage of it.
CAN GROUPS APPLY?
Yes. Groups can apply with the same budget and itinerary. We
ask that each member writes his/her own essays. My Travel Bug,
Inc. will usually designate one person as the Fellow but encourages
each member to submit stories while traveling. In the past Nate
Story and Amy Matthews both travelled with friends but they indivually
we responsible for writing the required amount of travelogues
and taking pictures.
HOW MUCH DO I HAVE TO WRITE ON THE FELLOWSHIP?
Winning Fellows are required to write 2 travelogues and take
4 pictures for each month traveling. These submissions must be
of good enough quality to be published online.
WHEN ARE FELLOWS NOTIFIED? WHEN DOES TRAVEL BEGIN?
The Selection Committee takes about 6 weeks to choose finalists.
Some people will receive their letters earlier but generally by
mid-May the letters have gone out.
Travel can begin as soon as we get the winning fellows' paperwork
and we send the check to them.
WHO IS ELIGIBLE?
This Fellowship is open to all U.S. citizens. This means all
persons holding a U.S. passport.

WHY ONLY U.S. CITIZENS?
My Travel Bug, Inc. is a U.S. non-profit 501c3 organization.
As such we are beholden to U.S. citizens because they pay our
taxes!
Awarding money to foreign nationals is a different field altogether.
Perhaps in the future we'll be able to expand the eligibility
to include our Canadian neighbors and other countries but at the
moment we're careful to keep to the mission approved by the IRS.
However, our mission is to help ALL people to travel and so we've
collected information about other organizations who do sponsor
travel and study. You can click
