| MISSION STATEMENT
Founded in August 2001, My Travel Bug, Inc. is a non-profit organization
promoting the educational benefits of international travel. We believe
international travel teaches tolerance, cross-cultural awareness and communication
skills, wisdom which cannot be learned in a classroom. International travel
is indispensable as the worlds economies merge and the internet
brings us closer together.
PROGRAMS
www.MyTravelBug.org
My Travel Bug, Inc. publishes this website free and open to the public.
This website has travelogues, photographs, a travel grant directory
and travel links information. By collecting and publishing stories,
pictures and audio of peoples travels as they occur, we educate
and engage our readers in their quest to learn more about our planet,
the cultures of its peoples and the creatures that inhabit it.
Travel Bug Fellowships
My Travel Bug, Inc. offers travel Fellowships for U.S. citizens financially
unable to travel. These Fellowships provide stipends to top quality
writers for trips overseas for 1, 2 or 3 months. All U.S. citizens over
the age of 16, regardless of race, gender or religion, may apply for
a Travel Bug Fellowship. Winning Fellows are required to write travelogues
and take pictures of their trips. These stories, pictures and video
are published on our website for the benefit of our readers. The number
of Fellowships offered varies according to annual fundraising efforts.

Educational CD-ROMs and Books
In addition to the Fellowship Program, we intend to produce a multi-media
CD Rom this year incorporating the best writings of the website. Depending
on the yearly budget, CDs will also be distributed to public schools
and libraries for educational purposes.
EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
Amanda O'Neil founded My Travel Bug, Inc. in August 2001. The Board
of Directors appointed her as Executive Director soon thereafter. My
Travel Bug, Inc. was started in reponse to Ms. O'Neil's experience in
college and beyond as she saw many colleagues unable to study abroad
due to financial stress and/or lack of vacation time.
After several years in political campaigns, Ms. O'Neil escaped the
Washington beltway and the U.S. border. She has backpacked throughout
Australasia and Europe. For three years she lived and worked in Ho Chi
Minh City, Vietnam. Returning to Washington, DC, Ms. O'Neil currently
works in the international development arena.
Ms. O'Neil has a Bachelors degree in Politics, Philosophy and Economics
from Pomona College in Claremont, CA and a Masters in Development Finance
from the University of Reading in England. Her area of research is development
economics and the HIV/AIDS crisis in sub-Saharan Africa.
